In July 2005, Chris Bray and Clark Carter plunged inside the Arctic Circle to travel unsupported across Victoria Island, the world's ninth largest and largely unexplored island. After 58 days, they were only one-third of the way across the island, so in 2008, they will return to complete their journey. iiNet is the Principle Partner for the 2008 expedition. (Australian Business and Community Network) is a group of national business leaders creating positive social change through programs that engage students, educators and business people. iiNet are involved in the following programs:

Partners in Learning
Matches business leaders and senior executives with principals and deputy principals from schools facing significant challenges in their student population, resource allocation and community engagement. iiNet's Managing Director and senior staff are currently developing a partnership with Kelmscott High School, WA. -
GOALs
This Year 9/10 mentoring program was developed to provide students with the opporutnity to meet people working outside their immediate community and consider wider vocational and education options despite their limited social networks and financial restrictions. Management staff from our Perth office are participating in the GOALs program in 2008. -
SPARK
iiNet volunteers participate in this program which is designed to assist primary school children in improving their reading and literacy skills. Staff from our Perth office participated in the pilot program at Parkwood Primary School in WA, and is continuing through 2008. -
Career Choice Day
In September 2008, groups of students will be visiting our Perth and Sydney offices to see what range of jobs are available. The key objective is to broaden the horizons forhigh school students through accessing and experiencing different working environments and cultures.
WorkChoice Day (New Zealand)
In May 2008, our Auckland office will be hosting high school students giving them the opportunity to make informed and viable career decisions. It's a chance to tell them about the jobs that are available in our industry and inspire them to think about a career in the telecommunications industry.
Young Achievement Australia
The YAA Business Skills Program provides the framework for a group of 10-20 secondary school students to run their own small business over a 24 week period. Guided by mentors, students explore everyday issues and challenges that confront commercial operations. This year, iiNet is sponsoring the Company of the Year award. This program commences early 2008.
Greenhouse Challenge Plus Program
As part of our commitment to reducing iiNet's environmental impact, we conducted energy audits across all our offices and facilities in November 2007. The results from the audit have provided an assessment of energy usage, water consumption, waste water and waste, as well as providing recommendations for reducing our ongoing consumption.

Broadband for Baby Boomers
This is a series of workshops offered to the public to introduce participants to a taste of what the internet has to offer. Workshop topics include:
- finding information
- local entertainment
- online shopping
- travel and holidays
- multimedia
- community/networking; and
- security
Workshops are held on the first and second Wednesday of every month at our Eastpoint office in Adelaide Terrace, Perth. Email us for more details and registration.
Murdoch University Prize Program
In 2006 iiNet was pleased to announce a five year commitment to the sponsorship of the industry prize for the best undergraduate project. These student prizes inspire students to achieve outstanding results in their courses and in specific projects and reward them for their efforts. iiNet awards the annual prize to the best performing undergraduate project group in a project relating to the Internet industry.
TAFE
iiNet partners with TAFE to provide scholarship opportunites for students. The Trainee Student of the Year is selected by a TAFE panel across all disciplines and we provide a full scholarship to a student in the technology school.
Know IT All Challenge
Proudly sponsored by iiNet, the Know IT All dinner event included Australia's leading IT&T companies in an intellectual battle involving questions prepared by Australian Mensa. The evening raised over $43,000 which will enable Starlight Children's Foundation to connect over 320 children to Livewire - a new secure online community which aims to connect young people living with a serious or chroinic condition or disability.
Speaking Commitments
iiNet's Managing Director is actively involved in speaking engagements supporting a number of charities. In 2007, this included events for the Cancer Council, Red Cross and Lifeline WA.
Sponsored Services
We supply a number of sponsorship services to organisations we believe are doing great work in the community. This includes broadband and business services for WACF
(WA Community Foundation) and PMH
's (Princess Margaret Hospital) Megazone.
Club Red Corporate Program
Club Red is a national corporate blood donation program designed for private, public and not-for-profit sector organisations. By joining Club Red, iiNet has made a comitment to saving lives by participating in blood drives organised throughout the year.
Fundraising Days
iiNet staff have supported and ar actively involved in a number of fundraising days, including Cross Dress for Red Cross,Movember , Pink Ribbon Day and Shave for a Cure.
